Recognition
The caucus uses three awards to mark stages of a career and the work that sustains the discipline.
Each award has its own purpose. The sections below describe the award, list recent recipients, and point to the public record.
The award directs support to women graduate students who present at the MPSA annual meeting, with registration costs as the focus.
The caucus reserves this honor for a senior woman whose research, professional service, mentorship, and example have left a mark on political science.
An MPSA roundtable each year turns the honor into a public conversation about the recipient's work.
Lisa Baldez, Dartmouth College (opens in a new tab)
The caucus gives this award to a woman who is building a research career before tenure, with attention to published work, leadership, and reach.
Sarah Bush, Yale University (opens in a new tab), with honorable mentions for Kathleen Searles of Louisiana State University (opens in a new tab) and Candis Watts Smith of the University of North Carolina (opens in a new tab).
The published 2019 cycle listed a December 1, 2018 deadline and an online nomination form. For current nomination details, ask a caucus officer.
The awards sit within the wider work of the discipline. These organizations publish award news and professional resources.
